Dermaplaning, also called epidermal leveling, is a non-invasive technique designed to smooth fine lines, even skin tone and brighten complexion. The painless treatment involves moving a blade across the skin's surface in short strokes, carefully exfoliating the very top layer of dead skin and tissue.
In addition to removing the top layer of rough, dull skin, dermaplaning removes unwanted hair that sits above the skin. Many patients express concern that, following the treatment, hair will grow back thicker and darker. In reality, this belief is simply an old wives' tale; the hair will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment.
Dermaplaning is recommended for patients experiencing rough or dull skin, hyperpigmentation, mild acne scarring, or fine lines and wrinkles. No chemicals are used during the procedure, generally making is suitable for every skin type and tone.
The treatment duration ranges from several minutes to an hour. Deeper lines and greater build-up of dead skin will involve a lengthier treatment. Most patients experience no side effects. Results are often noticed immediately after the first treatment.
Following a careful assessment of your skin, our team will customize your dermaplaning treatment specifically to your skin type and desired outcome.
