How You Can Help During COVID-19

As a nonprofit healthcare system, we are deeply grateful for the overwhelming charitable donations and offers of support pouring in from our amazing communities! Many are asking for ways to support our UnityPoint Health team members and patients. This page will be kept up to date with ways you can help us during the COVID-19 pandemic. Check back regularly for new information on the support we need and thank you for your generosity!

Listed below are the ways you can help make a difference:

Donate to Support our Health Care Heroes

Your support will help us care for our caregivers at a time when we need them most. Give Now to the COVID-19 Compassion Fund to quickly provide meals and childcare resources for our care teams working long hours, hardship grants to employees facing financial struggles in the months ahead, and wellness support to help team members get through this challenging time.

Handmade Mask Donations

Although we sincerely appreciate the donations of handmade cloth masks, due to the wide availability at this time, we are no longer in need. If you have cloth masks to donate, we encourage you to reach out to other local organizations who may be in need including school districts, homeless shelters and other non-profits.

Updated Food Donation Guidelines

Reducing the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses is imperative in order to keep our patients, team members and communities safe.  During these difficult times, we appreciate that our community has expressed an interest in supporting and acknowledging the great work of our healthcare teams by providing food and ready-to-eat snacks.  Below are some guidelines to reduce staff congregating for meals and help minimize the spread of the virus and other illnesses when considering a food donation.

  • Consider a restaurant gift card for take-out or no-contact delivery for staff to use on the way home after a challenging day. Gift cards in $10 denominations can be mailed to Meriter Foundation.

  • UPH-Meriter Foundation can help coordinate deliveries to departments with the following conditions:

    • Items must be individually wrapped, i.e., homemade cookies in individual sleeves, sandwiches wrapped in wax paper, salads with lids, etc.

    • No meals served "family style," such as crock pots of spaghetti.

    • No open platters, such as pizza or unwrapped sandwich platters.

The Foundation can be reached at (608) 417-5300 or msn_foundation@unitypoint.org.

  • Deliveries will be made to the front desk and picked-up by department staff.
