We know that it's vital to our patients' health and wellbeing to see loved ones during their stay. Due to COVID-19, Meriter currently has visitor restrictions in place that in most cases, will not allow friends and family to visit in-person. But, that doesn't mean you can't connect! Many phones, tablets and computers have free and easy ways to communicate via video, voice or text. Visit here for tips on virtual visiting options.
We are committed to keeping our patients, visitors, and employees as safe as possible. You must follow these safety rules to protect yourself and others:
All hospital visitors will be screened for symptoms upon entry to the hospital. Those who do not pass the screening will not be allowed to visit/provide support in our facilities.
Children under the age of 16 will not be allowed unless they are visiting a patient at the end-of-life and accompanied by an adult.
Cover your nose and mouth with a barrier mask at all times. If you do not have a barrier mask, one will be provided to you.
Stay in the patient's room during your visit, and use the nearest public restroom when needed.
Keep the same visitors daily within our visiting hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. All visitors must leave the hospital at 9 p.m. Exceptions may occur within Birthing Center and NICU only.
Do not gather in public spaces. Maintain social distancing (at least 6 feet away from others) even when wearing a face covering. No more the three (3) people may ride in an elevator at one time.
Wash your hand frequently. Use hand sanitizing gel when entering and exiting the building and patient rooms.
It is strongly encouraged that you obtain and consume any food or drink outside our facility to ensure compliance with face covering requirements. Follow unit guidelines for food and drink in the Birthing Center and NICU.
Patients and visitors are required to wear a barrier mask at all times. If you do not have a barrier mask, one will be provided to you.
Children under the age of 16 will not be allowed. An exception will be made for siblings under 1 year old who need to be breastfed by a patient. If the patient is breastfeeding, staff may require a support person to be present to care for the baby.
Support persons will be screened for COVID symptoms upon entry. Those who do not pass the screening will not be allowed to provide support in our facilities.
All individuals are expected to respect social distancing (maintaining at least 6-feet away from others) even when wearing a face covering.
An accompanying support person is not allowed to wait alone in the waiting room during the patient's visit, as the waiting room is reserved only for patients. The support person must always accompany the patient throughout their appointment. If this is not possible (e.g., patient requests privacy), the support person will be asked to wait in their car.
Patients are always welcome to have someone accompany them by phone or other electronic device.
We understand these visitor restrictions may be difficult for you. While we are committed to providing a family-centered care environment, right now limiting visitors is in the best interest of our patients and staff.
