When you have a medical emergency every minute counts. Call 911 and tell first responders to take you to Blessing Health Keokuk. Our emergency department is open 24/7 and we have staff specially trained to respond rapidly to any health care emergency. We care for over 12,000 patients each year.
Upon arrival, you will be assessed by our staff to determine the severity of your illness or injury. Patients are then taken to a room in the emergency department to be seen by a provider based on their triage assessment. Please know, it is our goal to see patients as quickly as possible.
What is an Emergency?
When is an illness or injury a serious emergency? There is not always a simple answer. If you think your condition could be life-threatening, don't take chances, call 911 or rush to the emergency department.
Common emergency warning signs:
- Bleeding that won't stop
- Chest pain
- Stroke-like symptoms
- Difficulty breathing
- Major burns
- Drug or other poisoning
- Traumatic event
- Loss of consciousness
- Sudden vision loss or blurred vision
- Severe abdominal pain
- Seizures lasting longer than 5 minutes
- High fever and vomiting that will not stop
