Our volunteers are an important part of the daily operations of the hospital and Long Term Care. A typical volunteer assignment is once a week for 2-4 hours.
Volunteers with smiling, friendly faces meet and greet visitors and patients at our entrances. Main duties include escorting guests to their destinations, pushing wheelchairs, and contacting appropriate staff. Strong customer service skills are needed. Morning and afternoon shifts available Monday-Friday.
At GCMH we want to make each patient experience exceptional, so the ability to interact with patients and visitors in a smiling and friendly manner is a must for this position.
East J Café
Adults with strong customer service and the ability to work with a touch screen register help in the hospital's café. Volunteers run the East J Café weekday mornings and afternoons assisting employees, other volunteers, and hospital visitors.
Long Term Care Activities
Our Long Term Care unit has more than 50 residents and our activity staff is happy to provide a number of activities every day. Volunteers are a very important part of the activity program. Volunteers help with Men's Club, special outings, craft time, painting nails, church on Sundays, and more! Weekend, week night, and week day opportunities are available.
Do you want to help the hospital in a different way? Many opportunities exist and we would be more than happy to discuss your skills and how they can enhance the operations of the hospital. Examples of current special projects include: filling vending machines, popping popcorn for residents, organizing magazines, making phone calls, scanning, filing, and preparing mailings.
Volunteers help in our Physical Therapy Department mornings and afternoons, Monday – Friday. Volunteers help by cleaning equipment and assisting with office work.
