This day-long class provides parents peace-of-mind that their children, 6th through 8th grade or older, are able to stay home alone safely, OR babysit other families with the knowledge to care for younger children safely. The program is part of the national Safe Sitter (R) program, developed by a health care provider in an effort to instill young teens with the skills to be safe alone, or caring for other children. The Safe Sitter (R) program is offered as a service by Grundy County Extension Service and Grundy County Memorial Hospital, who each provide certified instructors.
To take the class the student must have completed the 5th grade.
