Applications Available for Hospital Foundation's Healthcare Career Scholarships

The Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation annually awards Healthcare Career Scholarships to area students who are enrolled in a health care program. Students who graduated from high school or currently reside in the GCMH service area of Butler, Grundy, Hardin, and Tama counties are eligible to apply by May 31, 2019 for the $1,000 and $1,500 awards. Health care programs eligible for the scholarships include nursing, laboratory sciences, radiology sciences, ultrasound technology, physical and occupational therapy, pharmacy, dietetics, and emergency medical services (paramedic). Up to nine scholarships will be awarded.

“The GCMH Foundation believes that supporting our local healthcare students is an important investment in our communities and in the future health care workforce,” remarks Erin Schildroth, Community Outreach Coordinator. “Thanks to the support of generous individuals, this support is available to students in many fields of health care study. We encourage all local students who are currently enrolled in their health care program to apply.”

The scholarships are made available through the generosity of Sara Lee Yoder, who provided funds to the hospital upon her death in 2008, and by the family of Don and Susie Kliebenstein, longtime Grundy County residents who served on the hospital Foundation board, as well as by Irene Stout, a former Foundation board member. Applications for the 2019 Health Care Career Scholarships may be found on the Grundy County Memorial Hospital website, www.grundycountyhospital.org, ‘Ways to Give’ tab, or by contacting Schildroth at 319-824-4147 or erin.schildroth@unitypoint.org.
