Extraordinary Nurse Celebrated at Medical Center

UnityPoint Health® – Grinnell Regional Medical Center (GRMC) was thrilled to honor Kari Klein, RN, with The DAISY Nurse Award during Nurses’ Week. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care that nurses provide patients and families every day.

The DAISY Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by members of his family. Barnes died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of an auto-immune disease. DAISY is an acronym for “diseases attacking the immune system.”

An excerpt from the patient nomination reads, “Kari has a huge heart and made sure I was always doing my best during my time at GRMC. She truly cared about me and truly deserves this award and so much more.”

Klein was surrounded by her co-workers, leaders and friends as the nomination was shared by former patient and nominator.

Congratulations to Klein for this prestigious honor. For more information about The DAISY Award, visit http://DAISYfoundation.org.
