In order to make sure we are doing the best we can, we are inviting patients and family members like you to become Patient and Family Advisors.

What are Patient and Family Advisors?

Patient and Family Advisors share their insights, thoughts and opinions about what works well and what needs improvement. Advisors represent the patient and family voice together with doctors, administrators and staff help to improve the health care experience.

Our advisors work with UnityPoint Health - Fort Dodge, including:

  • Trinity Regional Medical Center
  • UnityPoint Clinic
  • UnityPoint at Home
  • Berryhill Center

Advisors can be UnityPoint Health - Fort Dodge patients, family members or caregivers of patients. They give us fresh insights on what it's like to receive services from our health care system. Patient and Family Advisors bring their own ideas and thoughts, talk with people they know and bring their ideas and thoughts as well.

What Does a Patient and Family Advisor Do?

Opportunities include one or more of the following:

Patient and Family Partnership Council Member

Meet with other patients and leadership to discuss current and potential programs and policies in our hospital and clinics.

Patient Education Reviewer

Work with our Patient Education team to help review materials and programs.

Story Sharing

Share your health care experience with health care providers and other patients.

New Employee Orientation Trainer

Assist in presenting to new UnityPoint Health - Fort Dodge employees on Patient and Family Centered Care.

On-line Advisor

Be available by email, phone or video to respond to questions about what is important to you on a particular topic.

Short Team Projects or Focus Groups

Be a partner in projects working to make improvements in how we provide the best care for our patients.
