Doctors use the results from the following screenings to assess the quality of your health. Numbers out of the healthy range may be an indicator that you have an increased risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes or other conditions. The below information will help you keep track of your important 5.
High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a serious medical condition that many people don't know they have. It can lead to heart disease, chronic kidney disease and stroke.
- Healthy: Less than 120/80
- Elevated: 120-129/80
- High Blood Pressure (stage 1): 130-139/80-89
- High Blood Pressure (stage 2): 140/90 or higher
- Hypertensive Crisis: 180/120 or higher
Also known as Blood Glucose. Testing your blood sugar measures your risk for diabetes, a chronic disease that can lead to blindness, heart disease, kidney failure, and nerve problems.
- Healthy: Less than 100
- Pre-Diabetes: 100-125
- Diabetes: 126 or higher
- Healthy: Less than 140
- Pre-Diabetes: 140-199
- Diabetes: 199 or higher
High cholesterol is a major risk factor for heart disease. Don't worry about memorizing your total cholesterol number, which can be misleading. Instead, memorize the 2 forms it's carried in: HDL and LDL.
- Total Cholesterol = 200 or less
- HDL - Healthy cholesterol = 50 or higher
- LDL - Unhealthy cholesterol = 100 or less

Healthy Waist Size
- Women - 35" or less
- Men - 40" or less
Obesity can cause many health problems. Too much body fat is a health risk. One way to assess your risk is your Body Mass Indicator (BMI). Calculate your BMI.
- Underweight = less than 18.5
- Healthy weight = 18.5 - 24.9
- Overweight = 25 - 29.9
- Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
