Please Call Ahead Before Any Visit & Wear a Mask or Face Covering

To reduce community spread of COVID-19, we're asking all patients to please call ahead before visiting a clinic. If you have an appointment at a UnityPoint Health location, please wear a mask or face covering except for children under two years old, anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated or unable to remove the mask without assistance.

Hospital Visitor Restrictions

Effective Wednesday, January 20, 2021, UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge lifted some visitor restrictions throughout care areas and for some services. As we see a decrease in COVID-19 cases and community spread of less than thirteen percent, we are committed to increasing visitation for our patients and their family.

Updated Visitor Guidelines:
Inpatient - 

  • Patients are allowed two visitors at a time between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. 
  • Visitors will be screened at least once a day upon entry and masks must be worn by visitors at all times. 
  • Visitors must go directly to a patient room unless stopping in the Cafeteria or gift shop. 
  • No waiting in waiting rooms will be permitted. 
  • Patients who are end-of-life will have visitors at the discretion of patient's health care team.

Please note that only approved visitation will be allowed for patients with a pending or positive COVID-19 test. Children under the age of 18 will not be allowed except under extraordinary circumstances.

Outpatient - 

  • Outpatient Surgery will continue with one support person per patient. Support persons will be allowed to wait in the surgical waiting areas with approval of staff.
  • Trinity Cardiac Catheterization Lab will allow two support persons per patient at a time.
  • Trinity Wound Healing Center will continue with one support person per patient.
  • Clinics will continue with one support person per patient. Pediatric patients may have two support persons. Patients will be allowed in the clinics for paperwork or questions but will be screened as a visitor if they do not have an appointment.
  • Diabetes Center will continue with one support person per patient.
  • Emergency Room will allow one support person at a time but may exchange up to two different support persons during their stay.
  • Radiology will continue with one support person per patient. Pediatric patients may have two support persons.

All visitors and support persons must be free of illness (e.g. fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea or vomiting.); as well as have had no contact with someone who may have COVID-19 in the past 14 days. They will be required to sign in, be screened, wear a visitor identification sticker, as well as wear a mask. In addition, they must be 18 years or older. 

 In addition, waiting rooms and public spaces are marked for social distancing and have been arranged to allow for spacing of at least six feet. Visitors are asked to frequently wash their hands or use hand sanitizer available throughout the facilities. Masks are also available upon request if a visitor or patient does not have their own. 

Restricted Visitor Entrances

Entrance C is closed at this time. Please enter using the Main Entrance or Entrance B.

Limited Valet Services

Until further notice our Valet team will not park patient or visitor cars. However, we will continue to provide wheelchair assistance when needed. This is to protect our visitors and Valet team from possible contact, as well as transmitting, the COVID-19 virus from one vehicle to another, and each other. Patients may be dropped off at the Main Entrance or Entrance B, someone will be there to greet and provide a wheelchair if needed.

Trinity Retail Pharmacy

Trinity Retail Pharmacy is offering pharmacy curbside pickup at the Main Entrance of the hospital, as well as mail-order delivery services for routine medication refills. For curbside pick-up please call in advance and you will be given instructions. For prescriptions to be mailed to your home, please allow a seven-day turn-around.

Trinity Retail Pharmacy will continue to offer store prescription services Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., as well as our "meds-to-beds" prescription delivery service to patients being discharged from care.

Visitor Restrictions

  • Pediatric Appointments: Only 2 support people, no siblings.
  • Adult Appointments: Only 1 support person, if needed.

All visitors/support people must be in good health (no fever, runny nose or cough during the last 7 days) and must be 16 years of age or older (including siblings).

Remember to wash and sanitize your hands upon entering and exiting a patient's room. Cover your cough with a tissue or your sleeve. Those with a fever, cough or other respiratory symptoms MUST use mask.
