COVID-19 Visitor Restrictions and Cancellations

UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center

Hospital Visitor Restrictions

To protect our patients, families and health care workers during the global outbreak of COVID-19 the following visitor restrictions have been implemented, until the transmission of COVID-19 is no longer a threat to community.

No visitors will be admitted unless critically essential for the patient's well-being. Approved visitors must be screened. Screening station is near Java City. Please note in all cases a visitor will only be allowed if they do not have symptoms of respiratory infection (fever, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath). Additionally, children under the age of 18 will not be allowed except under extraordinary circumstances.

Exceptions include:

  • Obstetric patients may have one partner or birth support person accompany them.
  • Nursery may have one birth parent plus one significant other who must remain in the room for the duration of the visit.
  • Exceptions will be made for patients who are end-of-life at the discretion of patient’s health care team.
  • Patients with disruptive behavior, where a family member is key to their care, may have one visitor.
  • Patients who have altered mental status or developmental delays, where caregiver provides safety, may have one visitor.
  • Minors under the age of 18 may have one visitor, parent, or guardian.
  • Patients undergoing surgery or procedures may have one visitor who must leave the hospital as soon as possible after the procedure/surgery.
  • Patients who have an appointment at a hospital-based clinic, laboratory, or radiology, as well as those visiting the Emergency Room (ER), may have one person with them.

Visitors allowed must stay in the patient’s room the entire time of the visit. Once the visitor leaves the patient room, they must leave the hospital. Please note that visitors will not be allowed for patients with a pending or positive COVID-19 test.

We understand these visitor restrictions may be difficult. While we are committed to providing a family-centered care environment, restricting visitors at this time is in the best interest of our patients, team members and the community. Thank you for your cooperation in this effort!

Restricted Visitor Entrances

Entrance C is closed at this time. Please enter using the Main Entrance or Entrance B.

Limited Valet Services

Until further notice our Valet team will not park patient or visitor cars. However, we will continue to provide wheelchair assistance when needed. This is to protect our visitors and Valet team from possible contact, as well as transmitting, the COVID-19 virus from one vehicle to another, and each other. Patients may be dropped off at the Main Entrance or Entrance B, someone will be there to greet and provide a wheelchair if needed.

Procedures, Surgeries and Non-Essential Services

In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and in an effort to conserve personal protective equipment (PPE) for our healthcare workers and first responders, UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center has made the decision to postpone all elective procedures, surgeries and non-essential services until further notice.

Services, surgeries and procedures deemed urgent, emergent and medically necessary will still be provided.

We ask for the patience of those impacted by this change. Patients will be contacted by their doctor’s office with more information about their specific care, including rescheduling.
