TrueBeam Linear Accelerator
Redefining radiosurgery, TrueBeam - the Wendt Center's newest treatment machine - is a technological leap forward. Its power, accuracy and speed set it ahead of more conventional treatments. Numerous features, like a high-intensity mode, multiple energy levels, high-definition beam shaping and very sophisticated imaging and motion management systems give our providers game-changing tools to design optimal treatments for patients. Using this device, we are able to do techniques such as stereotactic treatments including stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for cancers in the brain, lung, liver, pancreas and spine.
TrueBeam was designed with many features that enhance patient comfort. This device provides a more comfortable environment for our patients with its shorter treatment times and quieter operation.
The speed at which TrueBeam administers radiation treatment is significantly faster than some other radiation therapy systems. RapidArc radiotherapy technology shortens treatment times by one-half to one-eighth of conventional treatments-quickly, efficiently and safely. In a single rotation, the machine revolves around the patient, delivering a sculpted beam of radiation to the tumor.
TrueBeam also offers multi-treatment functionality in a single machine. Our radiation oncologists use a variety of techniques to deliver treatment that meets each patient's individual needs, including Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) - all from one machine.
