Expand Your Expectations.
In a perfect world...
In a perfect world, there would be an amazing hospital, where you could get heart care that's coordinated by an award-winning team of physicians and staff. When surgery is necessary, the best doctors have access to the latest technology. And in times of crisis, the Emergency Department is built and organized to help doctors and nurses treat you faster.
Finley's Grandview Expansion is a multi-phase project that provides a 70,000-square-foot, 3-story addition located on the Grandview Avenue side of the current Finley Hospital building.
"The Grandview Project marks a major milestone in Finley's history. New medical technologies offer many advantages for our patients, but Finley must have the facilities to make the best use of them. The critical areas of emergency medicine, surgery and cardiology require state-of-the-art facilities to give our patients the level of care they expect and deserve."
David Brandon, FACHE
President & Chief Executive Officer
The Project Overview
Emergency Room (ER) services now has 16 treatment rooms including two advanced trauma rooms. Before the Grandview Expansion, the ER design was undersized and the functionality of the space was more than 36 years old. The new ER has a more efficient work and patient flow to improve patient triage, treatment and satisfaction. The ER entrance is now equipped with an automatic snow melt system, which will be particularly useful in Dubuque winters.
The new surgical suites, including eight general operating room suites and three special procedure rooms, are on the addition's second floor. These state-of-the-art suites are designed to support the newest technologies, including surgical robotics, for the more than 6,000 surgical procedures that will be completed there every year.
The third floor houses the new Heart & Vascular Center, Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and UnityPoint Clinic Cardiology, providing a 21,000 square-foot center designed to specifically offer patients and their families greater convenience and efficiency. The expansion now consolidates all heart care services, including diagnostic cardiology services, cardiac catheterization labs, cardiac rehabilitation and educational facilities.
Community Impact: Improved Health Care Delivery
- Larger emergency rooms, better flow of services for exceptional patient experience
- Larger operating suites to house specialized, advanced technology such as the da Vinci Robotic surgery
- Consolidated heart/vascular services that provides one-stop heart care convenience for patients and their families
- Additional catheterization lab capabilities
