Signs and Symptoms of a Heart Attack in Women
Typical:
- Chest pain in center of chest; may be a pressure or tightness under the breast bone
- Pain radiating to neck, jaw or left arm
- Increased sweating
- Nausea and possibly vomiting
- Shortness of breath with little or no exertion
Atypical symptoms, which women are more likely to experience:
- Shortness of breath with no chest pain/pressure
- Abdominal pain mistaken for stomach problems
- Pain in the back, jaw, or throat
- Feeling sick, but difficult to describe
- Unusual weakness or exhaustion
- Palpitations with a cold sweat, dizzy
