UnityPoint Health Announces Most Popular Baby Names of 2017

UnityPoint Health® has tallied a list of the most popular baby names of 2017 by region and across the entire health system. The list was compiled from the most common first names (and spelling variations) of the more than 5,200 babies born so far this year at UnityPoint Health – Des Moines which includes; Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Methodist West Hospital, and roughly 20,000 born at all UnityPoint Health facilities so far this year. 

Popular Names for UnityPoint Health – Des Moines
The most popular name given to baby boys was Grayson/Greyson. For the girls, Adeline was the most popular, closely followed by Nora/Norah

The three hospitals delivered 4,978 in 2015 and 5,019 in 2016. 

Popular Names Across the Health System
In 2017, Emma took the top name for girls, and Oliver took the top spot for most popular boy name for all UnityPoint Health locations across Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin combined. The top five names for girls and boys across UnityPoint Health are:

Popular Names Across the Nation
Once again, in 2017, Emma was the most popular baby girl name in the United States, according to BabyCenter. Baby Center reports Liam, Noah, and Logan as the top three for boys’ names nationwide.
