Iowa Lutheran Maternity Center
It's no secret that Iowa Lutheran Hospital has been providing exceptional maternity care to mothers and their babies for more than 50 years. Our experienced staff and personalized care, create a unique and comfortable environment for patients and their families. We are dedicated to providing you with the high quality and personalized care you and your family deserve.
At Iowa Lutheran our private suites are designed with the complete comfort and safety of mother and baby in mind. Most of our mothers will spend their entire stay in one room, each equipped with the latest medical technology, should it be needed. Nitrous oxide, more commonly known as laughing gas, is offered as a form of pain management during delivery. The laughing gas is self-administered and a great alternative for those not desiring an epidural.
Our family centered philosophy of care revolves around the entire family, so each of our private rooms is large and spacious to accommodate family and friends. Our beautiful new waiting area was also developed with them in mind, with a vending area, a play center for children, flat screen televisions and comfortable seating.
Our 16 beautiful suites offer many comforts from home, including:
- Flat screen televisions
- VCR/DVD/CD players
- Whirlpool tubs
- Pull-out couches for family and friends
- Convenient room service, offering a wide variety of menu selections
In addition to our spacious rooms and outstanding staff, Iowa Lutheran Maternity Center houses a state-of-the-art surgical suite. Newborns will stay with their families in the birthing suite. If your baby would require more advanced care, Iowa Lutheran maintains a strong affiliation with Blank Children's Hospital physicians and staff as well as general pediatricians in the Des Moines area. At Iowa Lutheran, a member of the Blank Children's Neonatal Transport Team will be available to attend each delivery. If your baby is transported to Blank Children's Hospital, you will be offered to be transported to the Iowa Methodist Maternity Center at no charge to be closer to your baby.
