Iowa Methodist School of Nursing

The Iowa Methodist Hospital (IMH) and Nurses' Training School opened January 16, 1901 at Iowa Methodist Hospital. The first class of four nurses graduated in 1903. Training was extended from two to three years with the first diploma program class graduating in 1907. To meet the growing need, a dedicated building was constructed on the hospital campus and the name was changed to the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing (IMSN). The school graduated its last class in 1999, concluding its service after educating and preparing more than 4,400 of the best nurses in the nation. The IMSN Alumni Association are dedicated to continuing the legacy of learning by convening its members, sharing information and supporting the ongoing education of its members and their descendants.
