The Understanding Birth: Multiples class is a six- hours session, held on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and is designed for anyone expecting more than one baby. Due to the length of this class we encourage participants to bring a snack and/or drink. There will be a break for lunch in the hospital cafeteria. The cafeteria accepts cash or credit card. You are also welcome to bring your own food. This class covers essential information specific to multiple pregnancy and delivery, including types of twins, what you can expect during and after delivery, both vaginal and cesarean birth information, and what happens in the days after delivery. During class, you will be given a tour of Iowa Methodist Maternity Center and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This class does not cover Newborn Care, Breastfeeding, or Comfort Techniques. Please see the class schedules to register for those classes.
There is a minimum of two registrants per class. If there are not two families registered, class will be canceled. If this happens, you will be notified one week before class to reschedule.
