Thank You and Farewell

December 29, 2016

I was asked to join this wonderful blog after I tweeted that my husband and I were expecting. At the same time, the Real Moms of Eastern Iowa were looking for an expecting mother role. It was the right place at the right time. Fast forward five years later and it is now coming to an end. I feel very fortunate I was able to be a part of the Real Moms of Eastern Iowa right from the start - and the ride has been so memorable.

Our Journey: Thank You!

December 27, 2016

Almost 2 years ago I took a leap of faith and sent a message to the Unity Point Facebook page. I had been following the Real Moms of Eastern Iowa Blog, but was frustrated that there were no stories about real women in Iowa who were trying to get pregnant but were facing challenges. It was just a simple suggestion to maybe have a 1 time blog post about miscarriage or infertility or in vitro. Little did I know, that little message would start me on my blogging journey.

What I've Learned.

December 22, 2016

As we say goodbye to this blog that has brought such a diverse group of mom voices together, I decided to share what I've learned as a mom so far. Of this diverse group of moms, I represent a voice of a working mom. I work full-time outside of my home and am a mom to two kiddos who are seventeen months apart. I've been a mom for a whole two and a half years so it's safe to say I don't have it all figured out. Even so, here's what I know to be true.

The Breakup

December 21, 2016

It's been a long time coming. Our relationship has not always been fact sometimes it's been painful and demanding and time consuming. But finally, the time has come. I am breaking up with THE PUMP! Last week Archer turned 10 months, which means I have been pumping for about the last 8 months. That's twice a day, 5 days a week, 15 minutes for each pump session, which comes to about 4,800 minutes, but who's keeping track!

We can do hard things

December 21, 2016

Recently, my daughter was having a hard time doing something. The something is beyond my recollection. My mom stepped in to see if she needed help. My strong, stubborn daughter proudly explained to my mom; "Grammy, I can do hard things!"

Parting Tips

In hopes of providing a bit more help, I'll leave you with some final tips and words of wisdom. Basically, things I learned throughout my first pregnancy.
