About This ProviderPrint
Why did you become a physician/provider?
My passion of caring started at a very young age. I was always drawn to people or animals that were suffering or needed help. This combined with my love for science drew me to the field of nursing. My desire for education and learning lead me to graduate school to pursue Adult Gerontology and Acute Care.
What qualities best describe the care you provide to your patients?
I truly care for patients and their families as they are my own. I do not believe being a provider is just fixing a symptom. Medicine encompasses the person as a whole and that is my focus.
Being a healthcare provider, what drives/motivates you each day?
A great moment for me as a provider is helping patients make healthcare decisions and then seeing them at peace knowing they can just focus on the healing process. It is those moments that make it exciting to come to work each day.
What is the most important message you would like to share with your patients? What would you like your patients to know about you?
I feel you truly do not know empathy until you have needed it yourself in life and that is the biggest part of myself I can give my patients.
Are there any fun facts that you would like the community to know about you?
I am the only Katie Maybanks in all of Iowa and possibly in the Midwest. I have a great passion for Autism and love to talk about it.
