12 Days of Christmas December 8, 2016

Do you do anything special to countdown Christmas? We just started this tradition last year and I love it. Basically, you have a different activity for each day counting down to Christmas. You can make it as long as you want to: twenty five, twelve, six, whatever! Activities can be as simple as reading a Christmas book or as time consuming as you want, like going on a lights road trip. No matter what you choose, the idea is too keep connected as a family and feel a bit more together during the holidays.

Here's some ideas:
  • Christmas candy
  • Candy canes
  • Bake cookies
  • Share said cookies with neighbors
  • Scratch lottery tickets
  • Make a donation
  • Christmas movie night
  • Hot chocolate bar
  • Hot apple cider night, rum or whiskey optional
  • Make a puzzle together
  • Family game night
  • Visit Santa
  • Read a Christmas book
  • Read the Christmas story from the Bible
  • Ugly sweater day
  • Breakfast for dinner
  • Christmas music car ride
  • Coffee date
  • Go to a play
  • Watch The Nutcracker
  • Send a care package to a friend
  • Call/FaceTime a family member
  • Build a snowman
  • Make snow angels
  • Snow ball fight
  • Question prompts (i.e. favorite movie, what do you like about each other, what makes you laugh)
  • Gingerbread house
  • $5 dollar gift exchange
  • Homemade gift exchange
  • Get a new tree ornament
  • Winter themed family picture

The ideas are truly endless and you can customize them according to the time allowed and your family likes. The point is to have some fun!

Do you have any other ideas to add to the list?
