October LOVE November 4, 2016

I love the month of October! I watching all the leaves change their colors. Going for long drives or even walks along the river just to take in the beauty. I love fall comfort food. In our house that means Turkey & Dressing starts to become a staple fridge item. I love opening the windows, putting on a sweatshirt and snuggling up on the couch. So many wonderful things happen in October!

This year our October was a little more special as we got to share the love for this season with Archer too! We took advantage of as many nice nights and weekends as possible and started some new family traditions that I am excited to continue in the coming years.

Archer took in his first football tailgate. At the very beginning of the month, I celebrated my 5 year class reunion. Not having seen many of my college friends for a while, I knew I wouldn’t be willing to miss it, but I didn’t want Archer to miss it either. So he tagged along and had a great time. He was so curious about all of the people and partied like a true champ, right alongside mom & dad!
Another weekend we went to a pumpkin patch and went out into the field to pick out our pumpkins. In past years, Brad and I would just pick up our pumpkins at our local Farmer Market, but this year we started a new tradition. Archer loved the hayride out of the field and even got his very own little pumpkin. We didn’t do any pumpkin carving this year, but I look forward to adding that to our traditions next year.

And finally, of course Halloween! He did not go trick-or-treating this year, but he did visit both grandparents’ house and enjoyed dressing up as a skeleton. We even let him have his first candy bar. [NOTE: He did not actually eat a candy bar. We gave him a frozen snicker bar, which he knawed on through the wrapper. He’s cut 2 teeth already and is working on some more. We found out the frozen snicker worked great as a teether.]
Like every year, when October comes to an end I get a little sad. The leaves have all fallen and the air starts to get a bit colder. After all the fun we had this October, I am a little sadder to see October come to an end. However, I know as the holidays approach there will be many more firsts and traditions we will be able to share with our little guy. And thinking ahead a year from now…man I can’t wait to see what kind of fun we get into next October!
