Information

Comfort Skills Part 1 is actually the first half of 2 Comfort Skills childbirth preparation classes that are designed to teach pregnant women and their birth partner skills to use during labor. These skills are helpful to learn even if an epidural is planned.

In this first class (Comfort Skills Part 1), you will see a short video that gives a general overview of various comfort techniques.  You and your partner will learn and practice breathing techniques and various positions to use during labor. This is a hands-on practice so EACH mom-to-be needs a support person to attend this class with her.

Make sure to also register for Comfort Skills Part 2 learn to more valuable "hands-on" comfort skills-- using tennis balls & foam noodles, bed sheets to help babies move down, massage techniques and practicing ways to use birth balls and peanuts in labor.  Don't forget to bring 3 pillows with you again and your support person too!

For this class:

  • Bring 3 bedroom size pillows for comfort while practicing various positions for labor
  • Wear comfortable clothing as you will be on the floor for some position

Labor & Birth class is required to attend before taking Comfort Skills Part 1 class.
