Child Abuse Information

Child Abuse Under Iowa Code

Child abuse is classified under Iowa code 232.68(2) 2 - "Child abuse" or "abuse" means: (a.) Any non-accidental physical injury, injury which is at variance with the history given to it, suffered by a child as the result of the acts or omissions of a person responsible for the care of the child.  To read the full definition of the Iowa Code definition for child abuse. It can be found HERE.

How to Protect Children

Child safety is a serious subject, but that doesn't mean you can't have an enjoyable time talking about it with children. The Blank Children's STAR Center provides resources that can help your family have a conversation about personal safety. More information on this can be found HERE.

It's More Than Just Stranger Danger

The Second National Incidence Studies of Missing, Abducted, Runaway, and Thrown-away Children classified kidnappings as either family or non-family abductions. More information on this can be found HERE

Protecting Children is Everyone's Job!

Age of child abuse victims disproportionately impacts young children. Approximately half of child abuse victims are younger than 6 years of age. To find out how to protect children and make a difference, click the link HERE.
