About Us
Who are we?
Safe Kids Greater Des Moines is a diverse group of individuals and agencies who strive to prevent unintentional injuries from occurring to children. Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death to children and we work to keep Greater Des Moines' children from becoming statistics.
Formed in August of 1994, our coalition is comprised of individuals from police departments, hospitals, children's services, businesses and the state and local health departments. We come together, concerned about children's safety issues throughout the Des Moines area. We are a member of Safe Kids Worldwide and work with them to carry out programs that reduce unintentional injuries in children.
Safe Kids Greater Des Moines is part of Safe Kids Worldwide, the first and only national nonprofit organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury - the number one killer of children ages 19 and under. Blank Children's Hospital is proud to be the lead organization for Safe Kids Greater Des Moines.
