Blank Children's Hospital encourages volunteer groups to help provide an assortment of items for patients.
Ideas for Group Projects
- Craft Bags for Kids: Volunteers can assemble craft bags to be donated to help the Child Life Specialists at Blank Children's. The bags could be paper or plastic and include all the materials to make a craft. Themed crafts are fine. Mailbox Magazine has a lot of ideas.
- Decorated Holiday & Birthday Bags: Volunteers can decorate large white shopping bags with handles for birthday or holidays. These are used to give gifts to the children. All must be non-religious.
- Purchasing Items from the Blank Children's Wish List: Volunteers can raise funds to purchase new toys, books and games for the Child Life program. The gifts are given to a child that is having a difficult procedure or treatment, for a birthday or during the holidays. Due to infectious control and accreditation standards stuffed animals/toys can no longer be donated. Please review our Wish Lists.
- Book Drive to Support Literacy Programs at Blank Children's: Volunteers can host a book drive of gently used and new books to support literacy programs such as Reach Out and Read and the Half Pint Book Store. Blank Children's gives more than 16,000 books a year to patients and families.
