Biography

Why did you become a provider? I was drawn to medicine from early years of my childhood when I came across the term “heart attack” in many conversations. My understanding of a heart attack was radically transformed when my uncle underwent a cardiac bypass surgery and a valve replacement surviving a heart attack at a young age of 40 years. This miraculous recovery that medicine gifted my uncle left an indelible impression on my mind. Cardiology is a multi-system-based discipline where physiological and metabolic interactions present themselves in a variety of forms and initial diagnosis can often be elusive. The astounding combination of clinical diversity and versatility, intellectual challenge and patient satisfaction that can be offered by medicine and in particular, cardiology, enamored me to aspire it as my profession.

How would you describe the ideal provider/patient relationship? Trust is central to a patient-provider relationship; it is the cornerstone of effective communication, shared decision making and quality care. I strive towards building a long-term relationship with my patients and provide them with advanced, innovative and comprehensive personalized care with the utmost compassion and sincerity.

Describe your medical specialties or special interests: My primary interest lies in treating patients with structural heart disorders or coronary artery diseases using minimally invasive techniques, with the goal of quicker recovery and minimizing their hospital stay. Specifically, I specialize in addressing native or prosthetic valve disorders, such as leakage or narrowing, through catheter-based procedures. These procedures encompass transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair (MitraClip), transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR), tricuspid valve interventions, watchman implantation, closure of patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defects as well as paravalvular leak closure. I am also passionate about cardiac CT imaging and echocardiography for planning these procedures to ensure best outcomes for patients.

What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy playing tennis, hiking and landscape painting.
