We work with people whose lives have been disrupted by injury or disease. Our therapists work with you and your physician to tailor therapy treatment to fit individual needs and develop the very best plan for your recovery, and to assure you receive education and training to prevent further injury.
We are committed to helping you attain your goals, whether that be recovery of function, to prevent future injury, or maximize your abilities. We're here for you.
Our therapies and activities are geared toward building the skills needed for everyday life. Our rehabilitation services involve one-to-one meetings and treatment sessions with a team of experts that may include physical, occupational, speech-language pathologists; rehabilitation nurses, social workers, dietitians, orthotists, and physicians. Because the focus is on wellness, the atmosphere of the Rehab Unit may seem quite different from other hospital units. Patients have more responsibility for directing or performing their own care which helps them prepare for independent living.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program provides educational and physical reconditioning services to those affected by heart disease. The outpatient program begins 1-2 weeks after hospital discharge from an acute event and lasts approximately 6-12 weeks. Cardiac response is evaluated during monitored exercise sessions which include walking, biking, weight-lifting and other heart-strengthening activities. Patients establish goals for life in diet, exercise, weight loss, blood pressure control, lipid management, smoking cessation and stress management.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is an individually tailored, multidisciplinary program which is formulated through accurate diagnosis, therapy, emotional support and education.
These services are provided through Allen's Occupational Health department to anyone who has been injured on the job. The focus is on enabling you to return to your normal job functions.
