Mike Lind Appointed Executive Director of Allen Foundation

In the midst of a lifetime promoting philanthropy and a background working with nonprofits and fundraising, Waterloo native Mike Lind has been appointed executive director of the UnityPoint Health – Allen Foundation.

Lind joined the Allen Foundation as development director in 2015 and will assume this new role February 3 following the retirement of Dee Vandeventer.

“Getting to know Mike and the kind of person he is, we are happy to have him lead the Allen Foundation,” said UnityPoint Health – Waterloo President and CEO Pam Delagardelle. “Strong experience working with nonprofit organizations and fundraising along with a passion for healthcare made this a perfect fit.”

Lind has worked closely with Vandeventer over the last two years on the For Allen For You capital campaign to extend Allen Hospital’s healthcare services throughout the Cedar Valley. To date, $11.1 million of the $19.8 million target has been raised. Recently, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier recognized Lind as a 20 Under 40 honoree, including him in a prestigious group of established leaders in our area.

Previous experience includes time as executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Northeast Iowa and director of development at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, where he led a $7 million campaign for the food bank’s new facility.
