Childbirth and Breastfeeding Classes Frequently Asked Questions

The following are some of the commonly asked questions about our classes.

Can my husband or support person attend?

Yes! Husbands and support persons are welcome to attend any of our Childbirth and Breastfeeding classes.

Do I need to bring a blanket or a pillow to class?

No. You are welcome to bring them to make you more comfortable, but they are not required for any activities during the class.

Is this a Lamaze class?

We do not offer a true Lamaze class. During the Childbirth Preparation and Childbirth Express classes, the instructors will lead you through some breathing and relaxation methods though.

Where is the class held?

All classes are held at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's hospital on Pierce Street. Enter the hospital through the main visitor entrance on Pierce Street under the canopy. The instructor will meet the class attendees in the lobby right inside the main visitor entrance and lead you to the classroom.

Where should I park?

The best place to park for class is the main Visitor Parking lot on Pierce Street across from the hospital. All parking at St. Luke's is free.
