UnityPoint Health – Methodist | Proctor upholds a rich tradition of excellence in stroke treatment throughout Central Illinois, providing a full range of services, from the emergency room to rehabilitation, to diagnose and treat patients who suffer from a stroke. Methodist is a certified Primary Stroke Center with the The Joint Commission (TJC). Additionally, Methodist is an Illinois Department of Public Health Designated Stroke Center and the only local hospital to receive the American Heart Association Silver Plus Award.

Stroke Team

The Methodist | Proctor professional stroke team — a board-certified stroke neurologist, registered nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and dietitian — provide coordinated care and treatment throughout the patient's hospitalization.

Our experienced neurosurgeons are available 24 hours a day to ensure immediate care. Methodist offers Stroke Team Call, which is a system to activate caregivers immediately when a possible stroke patient arrives. It includes rapid recognition of symptoms, rapid triage, and rapid response. Emergency stroke care is also available on the Proctor Campus.
