Smart Heart Scan
The Methodist Smart Heart Scan helps identify your risk for heart disease. You lie on a table and hold your breath while our CT scanner takes a rapid series of x-ray pictures. The images show the amount of calcium build-up in your arteries. Calcium build-up is an indication of atherosclerosis, or "hardening of the arteries." Men and women between the ages of 40 and 65 should consider getting a Smart Heart Scan. It is also recommended for anyone with one or more of the following risk factors:
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Family history of heart disease
- History of smoking
- Physical inactivity
- High-stress lifestyle
When you call to schedule your appointment, you will be asked to provide us with a major credit card number. When you arrive for your appointment, you can either sign authorization for us to bill your credit card, or pay by check. Your insurance company may or may not cover the cost of this screening. Medicare will not reimburse for it and no assignment of Medicare benefits will be taken.

Coronary CT Angiogram Scan
A Coronary CT (Computed Tomography) Angiogram is a new test that uses advanced technology to look inside your heart without surgery. Doctors can see if fatty or calcium deposits have built up in the arteries that supply blood to your heart. Untreated, this build-up can cause heart disease leading to fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain and/or heart attack. The test is done using Methodist's ultra-fast 64-slice CT scanner and takes just 10-15 minutes.
Bone Density Testing
Take the first step towards healthier bones! Methodist makes it easy with DEXA bone density testing. A DEXA test is simple, convenient and painless. A physician's order is required for this test. Your doctor can schedule it for you or, if you have a prescription, you can schedule the test yourself.
