The Comprehensive Breast Day

Different types of breast cancer require different treatments. Patients' treatment needs are determined on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the types of breast cancer diagnosed, some patients may need the expertise of several breast health specialists.

If you need the services of our experts, a special day will be set aside for the members of your breast health team to come together. At the Comprehensive Breast Day Meeting, these specialists will discuss your individual test results and medical history.

After the team develops a treatment plan, a breast surgeon and a breast health navigator (a radiologic technologist) will sit down to talk with you and your family the same day.

The surgeon(s) and breast health navigator will explain to you and your loved ones the treatment plan recommended by the breast health team. They will give you treatment options and information to help you decide on which treatment is right for you.

If more tests are needed, your breast health navigator will schedule these exams for you. These tests may include one or more of the following:

  • Additional digital mammogram
  • Ultrasound
  • Bilateral Breast MRI
  • Biopsy
  • PET scan
  • Pre-operative testing
