Congratulations to Melissa Turner, Our May Daisy Award Winner
Congratulations Melissa Turner of Brimfield, our May 2017 Daisy Award recipient! Melissa and her husband Dustin have 3 active kids, and she is very involved with their school sporting events and class activities.
Melissa has been with UnityPoint Health about 6 years. She currently works PRN in our Endoscopy department, but you wouldn't know it! She is very engaged and contributes hours on our Orthopedics floor. She loves to teach new nurses and has a passion for the technical aspects of the Endoscopy role. Melissa always stays busy and likes process improvement. She also Fosters Unity by coordinating team parties and activities.
Melissa’s Nomination Story:
“My son, 6 years old, has had multiple endoscopies. When I asked him about his favorite nurse from his latest endoscopy he said he really liked Melissa. Melissa helped him feel more comfortable back in the procedure room without his parents. She talked with him about his interests and helped keep his mind off what was going on. As his parents, we give a big thank you to Melissa! Without nurses like you, our routine endoscopies would be a giant struggle.”
The Daisy Award is presented monthly to a nurse, nominated by patients or family members, for providing extraordinary care. The winner is chosen by peers, a group of staff nurses, who read all through the nominations received throughout the month. Nominate a nurse today!
