Three classes are available in this educational series focusing on the complex obstetric patient (Antepartum, Intrapartum, & Postpartum Physiology & Complications).


1. Antepartum (Labor & Birth) Physiology & Complications

  • Trauma-informed care & pregnancy stressors
  • Hypertensive states, HELLP, use of magnesium sulfate
  • Preeclampsia/eclampsia, DIC
  • Placental problems
  • Multiple gestation pregnancies
  • Obesity, diabetes in pregnancy & intrapartum
  • Care after bariatric surgery
  • Alcohol use, Preterm labor
  • Cholestasis, Thrombophilias, Stillbirth
  • Sepsis, Acute fatty liver, DKA
  • Myocardial infarction, trauma & cardiac arrest

Simulations: hypertensive crisis/magnesium sulfate use, antepartum sepsis, maternal code

All classes take place from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM at:

CHES is located on the 3rd floor of the beige building with green glass windows.

Note: GPS and online map users: Enter 3001 W. Beltline Frontage Road. If you use "Highway" you may be misdirected. Otherwise, please refer to directions and parking information below.

From the East - Take Hwy 12/18 westbound. Exit at Todd Drive. Continue west on the exit ramp. Turn left at stop light. After going under the overpass, take first right at light onto frontage road. After you have passed Landmark place, turn left at the entrance for 3113 and 3001.

From the West - Take Hwy 12/18 eastbound. Exit Todd Drive. Follow exit ramp as it makes a hairpin turn to the right. Follow frontage road westbound past the Landmark Place. Turn left at the entrance for 3113 and 3001.

Parking: Free open parking lot

Preparation: There is no pre-class preparation. Please bring your name badge. Casual dress is acceptable.

Refreshments: You may bring your own snacks/lunch. Lunch will be a 45-minute break, & a few restaurants are close by. 


Applicants who cancel fewer than 7 days prior to class or fail to attend at all, may not be eligible for a refund or for credit on a future training date.

Note: If we need to cancel the course, you will receive an email by 6 am the day of the class.
