Camp Embracing Memories 2024

Dear Parent/Guardian:

We are pleased you are registering your child for Camp Embracing Memories, and we are excited to be providing this much-needed grief support for children in our area at no cost.

(The camp cost is sponsored by Cedar Memorial and therefore free to all campers.) Below is a brief overview of this year’s camp.

• Saturday, June 22, 2024: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
• Location: Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca (lodging and meals included)
• Address: 3271 Sandy Beach Rd N.E. Solon, IA 52333

Directions to Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca from Cedar Rapids:-Take I380 S, Take the County Hwy-F12 exit, EXIT 10, toward Swisher/Shueyville, Turn left onto County Hwy-F12/120th St NW, Turn right onto Curtis Bridge Rd NE/County Hwy- W4F, Curtis Bridge Rd NE is just past Mill St NE, Turn slight left onto Sandy Beach Rd NE/County Hwy-W4F, (If you reach Pine Ridge Ln NE you’ve gone about 0.1 miles too far.) 3271 SANDY BEACH RD NE is on the right.

Please know that this year we have space for 20 campers. Therefore, early registration is encouraged and will help guarantee your child attendance at this one-of-a-kind grief camp. There will be many activities for campers to enjoy, such as making memory boxes and pillows and enjoying music therapy, outdoor activities and more.

Parents and guardians are required to attend a special caregiver session in which you will be given an overview of the camp events and be given education on how to help children cope with the death of a loved one. This time will also allow you to connect with other parents/guardians. Look for more details on this as camp draws closer.
