UnityPoint Clinic Physician Selected as CDC Project Firstline Ambassador for Iowa

UnityPoint Health – Sioux City is proud to announce that Ashlesha Kaushik, MD, Pediatric Infectious Disease physician for UnityPoint Clinic has been selected as the Iowa Ambassador for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Project Firstline/American Academy of Pediatrics Infection Prevention and Control.

Dr. Kaushik is among 17 national ambassadors selected from across the nation and is the only representative for the state of Iowa. The appointment took effect January of 2022.

“We are incredibly proud of Dr. Kaushik,” says Jeremy Granger, Regional Medical Director of UnityPoint Clinic. “She is extremely knowledgeable about pediatric infectious diseases and fiercely passionate about their treatment and prevention. She will be a great representative for the state of Iowa on this project.”

As an Infection Prevention and Control Ambassador, Dr. Kaushik will be part of a diverse group of pediatricians working together to address state-level infection prevention and control to improve the health of children and adolescents in the state.

I feel highly honored to share the national stage with some of the top experts in Pediatric Infectious Disease in this new role. I’ve spent my career working to improve the wellbeing of the pediatric community in Siouxland and I look forward to broadening my reach to the state of Iowa and beyond through this project.
