Aloha and Mahalo
On 10/7/2016 my dad, age 98, suffered a massive stroke. He was taken to Meriter ER by EMS. The ER doctor advised my sister and me that neurology would be consulted as to treatment. That afternoon, my dad was moved to room 824 and a doctor explained the prognosis as not optimistic. On 10/10, we decided to move him to Agrace Hospice in Madison. The following day our dad died.
No words can express the appreciation and gratitude we have for the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for our dad at Meriter. Everyone exceeded our expectations to make sure my dad was in no pain. This was a difficult time for us, but all staff treated us with dignity and respect.
One RN, Jen Redman, stood out for going beyond her nursing duties. Before my dad was moved to hospice, Jen hugged us and wished us well. I know this is not part of an RN's job but it says a lot about Jen.
I apologize for being long winded, but most often hospitals can be sterile and somewhat hostile to both patients and visitors. Meriter was different. Everyone was friendly, caring and helpful.
THANK YOU!! Aloha and Mahalo!!
