Why perform these tests/diagnostics?
Various diagnostic testing assist health care providers in determining and treating lung disease.
What do I do during this test?
You will be provided instructions for each test or diagnostic you are scheduled for. Most of the tests require you to breathe through a mouth piece, like a large straw. You may be asked to inhale a mist to see if your breathing improves. You also may have blood drawn from your artery to check your oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. This tells us how well your lungs use the air you breathe.
What happens after the test?
You provider will discuss your results when he or she has the final report.
