Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions regarding the UnityPoint Health – Meriter employment application process. We've also addressed other questions job candidates often ask about working at Meriter.
What features are available to me through the Meriter Careers website?
Search Opening: View open positions with the search functionality. Click on Search openings, search using Keyword, Location, Category, Date posted, and/or Proximity and click Search. If you do not enter any criteria and click "Search", you will see all of the currently available positions.
Create Your Profile. A full profile contains all of the information you are required to provide when you apply for a job on the Career Center. It is not necessary to complete the entire profile in one session; it can be saved as a Draft for you to come back to at a later time to complete (within 30 days). A full profile is divided into several segments. As you complete each segment, your progress is shown on a navigation bar at the top of the page.
Search Agent Manager. Search Agent Manager automatically notifies you when jobs that match your job search criteria are posted to the Career Center. The Search Agent Manager operates based on notification options and search criteria that you specify. As your job search needs change, you can modify Search Agent Manager settings by changing the notification method and frequency, and by adding or removing search criteria. You will continue to receive notification until the position is no longer listed on the UnityPoint Health - Meriter website. Please note that you must have a full profile created in order to use the Search Agent Manager functionality.

How do I start looking for a job?
Begin by searching with keywords relevant to the job you are looking for in the Search pane or by categories relevant to your skills and interests.
Can I search for a job without creating a job profile in the Career Center?
Yes. However, you need to create an account to submit your resume and apply for jobs. This also enables you to save your job searches and create your own Search Agent Manager for regular job alerts via email.
Can I create a profile in the Career Center without applying for a job?
Yes, you can. You can click the "click here to create a new account link". Create a profile without applying to a job and proceed to create your profile in the Career Center. Your name is not attached to a specific job, but your information is entered into our searchable database. If you later see a specific job opening that you would like to be considered for, you can then just update your online application with any changes.
Do I need an e-mail address to apply for a job?
Yes, an e-mail address is required to apply for a job. If you do not have an email address, a link is included in the online application to create a free e-mail account. Meriter will communicate with you regarding your status via this email address.
Do I need to submit a resume?
Depending upon the position you apply to, a resume may or may not be required. We do recommend that you include a resume, when possible. This information helps us to better review your background and skills related to positions that you apply to.
Is my personal information secure?
How do I update my address or any other personal information?
Log in to your Career Center account, click Edit Your Profile in the left side of the page, and make any necessary changes.
What if I forget my password?
Click on Forgot Password below the log in section of the Meriter Career Center. Here you can have your password reset and emailed to you.
Why am I prompted to fill out additional information when I apply for some jobs but not for others?
If we have additional requirements for a specific job or need additional information from you, we will include these additional questions as part of the application.
If I apply to the same position more than once, will you notice my application more?
It is important to note that you should not submit your application multiple times for the same job opening, as this will not increase your chances of being contacted. If you do attempt to apply to the same position twice in the Career Center, you will receive a notification that you have already applied to the position.
I'd like to be able to include a cover letter with my application, addressed to the appropriate individual. How can I find out the name of this person?
All job applications are received and directed the appropriate Recruiter for the position. This can vary based on the position applied to. It is not necessary to address a cover letter to a specific individual. If you would like to include a cover letter, you can upload it to your profile, in addition to a number of other documents.
I submitted my job application to you, and now need to make changes. What should I do?
To revise your application, login to the Meriter Career Center with your e-mail address and password. Please do not submit a new application.
How do I know if you received my online application?
You should receive an e-mail confirmation when your application is submitted. You should also receive e-mail correspondences to keep you informed of the status of your job application. You can also log into your Career Center profile for updates to your status. We do ask that you use this functionality to check the status of your application instead of contacting our HR department.
How long does it take to process a job application? When will I hear back?
The exact time frame will vary depending on the position for which you applied. Meriter Human Resources will get back to as soon as we determine the status of your application.
How do I know if the position I applied for is still open?
We update the positions on the Meriter Career Center on a daily basis, so what is posted is an accurate representation of open positions. Please note that some positions may appear to be similar to one you applied to, but may be a different FTE, location, or department.
Why did I get logged out of my profile?
The Meriter Career Center will automatically log you out of your profile after 10 minutes of inactivity. This is a security feature that is defaulted in the system.
