Meet the Staff

Kenneth Martin, MD

KennethMartinDODr. Kenneth Martin is a family practice provider at UnityPoint Clinic® Family Medicine - Pennsylvania Ave. in Dubuque. He is board-certified in family medicine and a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Martin earned his medical degree from Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. 

At UnityPoint Clinic, Dr. Martin sees patients for annual physicals, chronic and acute conditions. He believes he and the patient are part of a team that works together to set health goals and determine a plan to reach those goals. He takes a comprehensive approach to treating his patients by building ongoing relationships with them and caring for his patient's medical and social health needs. Martin wants his patients to know he is there for them, for whatever they may need. 

Dr. Martin completed his residency at UnityPoint Health Trinity Bettendorf Family Medicine, where he was the chief resident. In his free time, Martin enjoys spending time with his wife and kids. He also enjoys outdoor activities, action sports and photography.  

 

Michelle Shafer, DO

Shafer_MichelleDr. Michelle Shafer is a family practice provider at UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine - Pennsylvania Ave. in Dubuque. She is board-certified in family medicine and is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Shafer earned her undergraduate degree from Clarke University and her medical degree from Kansas City University.  She completed her residency at UnityPoint Health Trinity Bettendorf Family Medicine. 

Shafer loves family practice medicine because of the variety it brings to each day. Shafer feels the best part of family medicine is interacting with patients and continuously cultivating relationships to help better treat patients. Shafer believes a team approach is best and that's what patients get at UnityPoint Clinic. Shafer sees patients for annual physicals, chronic and acute conditions and offers Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). In her free time, Shafer enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs. She also enjoys cooking, baking, cheering on the Hawkeyes and traveling, especially to Disney World. 

 


Megan Sutton, MS.Ed, LPC

Megan Sutton is a Professional Counselor with Hillcrest Family Services in Dubuque. Sutton sees patients at UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine locations in Dubuque, Peosta and Cascade and Women's Health in Dubuque.
Sutton provides services for adolescents and adults using a variety of techniques and interventions to aid in developing skills to improve individual well-being. Her areas of focus include trauma informed care, anxiety, depression, thought disorders, parenting, and skill development.
Sutton individualizes treatment based on the needs of individuals, taking into account all aspects of their lives and acknowledging a person's experiences.
Outside of work, Sutton enjoys family dinners with her four children, and is an avid fan of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Star Trek and Star Wars.
