I graduated from the Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in May of 2013, and was lucky enough to get the chance to stay in Des Moines to complete my residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. In my time here I have gotten the chance to train under some truly amazing pharmacists. The staff has always been helpful and willing to take the time to assist me in any way possible. However, they have also been great about giving me the freedom needed to develop into an independent practitioner. I look forward to the many upcoming opportunities to continue to develop my skills as a clinician.
Iowa Methodist Medical Center's residency program offers a wide array of rotation experiences precepted by outstanding pharmacists who are experts in their specific fields. At IMMC, pharmacists are highly respected and serve an active role on the health care team. In my experiences thus far as a PGY-1 resident, I have had the opportunity to participate in multi-disciplinary patient care rounds, precept pharmacy students, and provide educational programming. IMMC provides a great environment for learning and starting a career as a clinical pharmacist. Additionally, Des Moines is a great city filled with biking/walking trails, parks, shopping, great restaurants, and tons of city events!
