Meet our Current Residents

 

Nicole McSweeney, PharmD

Dr. Nicole McSweeney is originally from Saint Charles, Illinois. She graduated from Drake University with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in May of 2015. Nicole's current practice interests include pediatrics, infectious disease, and internal medicine. Her residency project involves an examination of the incidence of Staphylococcus aureus pneumonia in patients with confirmed influenza. Upon completion of her pharmacy practice residency, Nicole would like to pursue board certification in pharmacotherapy and work as a clinical pharmacist. Outside of residency, she enjoys running, exploring Des Moines, traveling, and cooking.

   

Erica Erixon, PharmD

Dr. Erica Erixon is originally from Council Bluffs, Iowa. She graduated from Creighton University with a Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in May 2015. Her current practice interests include pediatric oncology, pediatric infectious diseases, and general pediatrics. Dr. Erixon's residency project is looking at the usefulness of procalcitonin in pediatric patients admitted with a viral respiratory illness and questionable secondary bacterial pneumonia. Upon completion of her first year of residency, she would like to pursue board certification in pharmacotherapy or complete a second year residency in pediatrics. Outside of residency she enjoys reading books, attending concerts and car shows with her husband, and staying busy with their three dogs.

 

 

 

Peter Elliot, PharmD

Dr. Peter Elliott is originally from Monmouth, Illinois. He graduated from Drake University with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in May 2015. His current practice interests include internal medicine, ambulatory care and oncology. Dr. Elliott's residency project is evaluating the outcomes associated with the usage of the biosimilar drug TBO-filgrastim compared to Neulasta. Upon completion of his first year of pharmacy practice residency, he would like to pursue board certification in pharmacotherapy and to work as a clinical specialist. Outside of residency he enjoys traveling, playing sports, biking, attending concerts and trying new restaurants around Des Moines.
