UnityPoint Health - Des Moines is committed to our patients and our community. The United States healthcare industry produces more than 2 million tons of waste per year. We feel it's our social responsibility to incorporate environmentally conscious principles in our hospitals and every day work, and by doing so, we're reducing healthcare costs for patients, families and community members. "Going Green" allows for a cleaner, healthier world.
Our Go-to-Green Team
Our commitment to improving the health of our communities extends beyond patient care to conducting business for the benefit of the community by reducing, reusing, recycling and recovering within the healthcare environment. To further this mission the UnityPoint Health - Des Moines Green Team has been working to educate, motivate and engage employees to adopt a variety of environmentally sustainable practices. Building on green initiatives dating back to 2007 and earlier, the Green Team has helped to cultivate the efforts to make our hospitals better for the environment, patients and staff.
