Blank Children's Hospital
Child Life - Being in a hospital can be very stressful for children and their families. To help ease their nerves, Blank Children's provides a special service called Child Life. This program is not paid for by insurance, so we rely on the generous support of individuals, organizations and others in the community to help us provide this valuable and important service for patients and families. Certified Child Life Specialists combine play with education to explain medical procedures and provide therapeutic opportunities to explore the hospital environment.

Regional Child Protection Center - The professionals at the Regional Child Protection Center (RCPC) work closely with community organizations to protect children. The RCPC enables a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to work together in the investigation, treatment and prosecution of child abuse cases in central Iowa. Contributions to this Center help support a team of specialists skilled in the medical and psycho-social assessment of abused children.
Center for Advocacy and Outreach - The Center for Advocacy and Outreach at Blank Children's has a vision to improve the well-being of all children. Support of this Center helps to improve the lives of children and families beyond the walls of our hospital. Since health behaviors learned as children often become lifelong habits, it is imperative to teach our kids how to grow into healthy adults.
Blank Children's Cancer Center - The pediatric hematology and oncology team at Blank Children's Hospital consists of specially-trained health care providers dedicated to caring for children with cancer and blood disorders. Our physicians, nurses, child life specialists and staff work together to provide the latest treatments in a family-centered care environment. Blank Children's Hospital is also affiliated with the Children's Oncology Group, which enables cancer centers from across the country to share information about the latest treatment protocols available. This means children receive the same, sophisticated care here in central Iowa that they would receive at other leading children's cancer centers.
Pediatric Intensive Care - For children in critical condition, Blank Children's offers a state-of-the-art pediatric intensive care under the medical direction of pediatric critical care physicians.
Neonatal Intensive Care - Neonatologists and an experienced staff provide special care to premature or seriously-ill newborns to help them maximize their growth and developmental potential.
Patient Programs and Services - Contributions to this fund enable us to provide valuable programs and services to children and their families, including Child Life therapy and our Family Resource Library.
Community Outreach - Blank Children's is committed to extending our care outside the walls of the hospital. Donations help us make health and safety education programs, bike helmets and other services available in communities across our state.
Facility and Equipment - We are always looking for new ways to make our hospital as comfortable, encouraging, and child-friendly as possible. With the recent renovation and expansion, we are now working to build a fund that will enable us to always be able to have the most state-of-the-art equipment available to children.
