Social Worker::Dwight Deason, MSW, LISW
Dwight has been part of the Iowa Methodist Medical Center team for almost 20 years. Dwight has spent 17 of those 20 years in oncology services, working with both inpatient and outpatient settings. Dwight helped develop the first support group at John Stoddard Cancer Center 16 years ago, which was a support group for blood cancer patients. In his current role, Dwight helps facilitate several support groups including the UsTOO Prostate Cancer Support Group and Blood Cancer Support Group, as well as provides general social service needs at John Stoddard.
" I am excited to be part of the Stoddard team full time, in the outpatient arena. I am able to meet with patients much earlier in the cancer journey, and help them any way I can with a variety of needs. Although I have known the team for a long time, our working relationship is much closer, and I feel more productive in meeting the needs of the patients. And that, is the most important function of our role here at Stoddard."
