Paola

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to Ames, in 2005, to study Landscape Architecture at ISU. There I met and married my husband, who is from a small NW Iowa town. We now live in Cedar Rapids, but work in North Liberty.

Parting Tips

In hopes of providing a bit more help, I'll leave you with some final tips and words of wisdom. Basically, things I learned throughout my first pregnancy.

12 Days of Christmas

December 8, 2016

Do you do anything special to countdown Christmas? We just started this tradition last year and I love it. Basically, you have a different activity for each day counting down to Christmas. You can make it as long as you want to: twenty five, twelve, six, whatever! Activities can be as simple as reading a Christmas book or as time consuming as you want, like going on a lights road trip. No matter what you choose, the idea is too keep connected as a family and feel a bit more together during the holidays.

Thanks to the good within the bad

December 5, 2016

It's important to turn around our way of thinking and perspective on everyday trivial matters and focus on the good.

Why Voting is Different This Time Around

November 8, 2016

I've voted in a few general elections already. Always sure of my stance, sure on my vote and feeling strongly about why my vote went to my chosen candidate. Why shouldn't I? I was voting for what I believed in, voting for what I wanted and would help me. Voting for my future.

Dreaming of Future Traditions

October 27, 2016

It's inevitable. As soon after giving birth, I starter thinking of how life would be once Olivia started getting older. How are birthdays going to be celebrated? What interactions will she have with the other cousins at family reunions? What will her first Halloween costume be?

Good Day, Bad Day

October 17, 2016

You know the feeling. Everything is going right; you're in sync with your baby. You're both on schedule, she's feeding and taking naps like a champ, you're productive, you got a lot of things done. You also know the other feeling. Everything goes wrong; you're definitely not in sync with your baby. Naps last ten minutes, she's a fuzzy eater, you get nothing done and you feel like you don't have a grasp on the day at all.
