Meet the Moms

Hi, I’m Amanda! I have been married for six years to my husband, Andy, and together we have two children – Nora and Weston. Our road to creating our family was not without its twists and turns. We struggled with infertility for two years before we were lucky enough to experience two surprise pregnancies. We blinked and created our family – against many odds.

Today, I’m a full-time working mom who juggles many roles. I’m learning that this whole idea of “work / life balance” comes in weeks, months and years – not days. I look forward to sharing our family’s adventures with all of you – complete with many ups, downs and bumps in the road!

My husband, Mitch, and I are over the moon in love with our daughter Stella. As a kindergarten teacher I've always had a love for children, but it doesn't even compare to the love I have for my own. We are learning to live and love life each and every day in our new roles as parents. Things change when you have a baby. It's not just the two of you anymore. Stella is the light of our lives and each and every day brings on a new experience. It's definitely not easy being a mom, but it's the most incredible thing I've ever done.

Hello blog-lovers! I'm Danielle, a Los Angeles, CA native who has found herself embracing this new life in the Midwest since my family and I moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in September of 2015. I'm a mom of two handsome little boys and two energetic-but-sweet rescue dogs. My husband and I are celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary this year - go us! We have been on a fast-track of life milestones since we met, but life has kept us on our toes and we're having a blast and growing closer and closer with each crazy step we take. He is my rock, and my hero... tho goofiest, eco-friendliest Marine Corps veteran you'll ever meet. We are currently moving into home number five since we got hitched (too. much. moving.), but have both learned to enjoy the mystery and excitement that each change brings. Life has been especially exciting since I started my journey as a mother. It's a learn-as-you-go gig, and I've never felt wiser or more confident in my humanness. Aside from being a mom, I work from home in the travel business and in my free time (HA! what's that?), I enjoy making natural gemstone jewelry for my small side business. I'm a Gemini, a lover of the arts, a nature junkie, a yoga-fiend, an empath, an animal lover, and a hippie in most senses of the word. I've been a writer since my very first diary, and I know I'll be a writer until my dying days. I'm honored to share my life with you all, and humbled for the time and energy you have shared with me in reading what I have to say. Namaste - the light in me honors the light in you - and cheers to the journey ahead!

Hi there! It’s so great to meet all of you. I’m Holly Jirovsky and I blog at Style from the Sticks which is a fashion blog for busy moms like yourself on a shoestring budget. A little about me- I live in Grundy Center with my husband and I’m a stay-at-home mom for four kids. I have an eight –year-old, a seven-year-old, a four-year-old and a new baby. I have a background in the publishing and advertising industries and I love combining my two passions, fashion and writing. While my blog is mainly fashion-related, I also dabble in home decor, lifestyle and parenting. I’m very excited to be a part of the Real Moms of Eastern Iowa group. As an added bonus, for any of you that are expecting, I can give you fashion advice on what to wear while your belly grows! As a busy mom, I know how easy it is to get stuck in the yoga pant rut. But your clothing is a way to express yourself and show the world your personality. Be creative and true to yourself. Don’t be trapped by trends. Remember that you feel good when you look good. You only get one life to look your best!

I am an agronomist in NE Iowa and my husband works for my family’s farm growing corn, soybeans and raising hogs.  We are a little late to the kid thing as I’m just not sure how it’s going to work with our schedules, not to mention just plain scared of change.  I guess I had better learn to adapt as we are expecting our first in December 2016.

I’m Judy and my husband Eric and I are the parents of two daughters – Chloe (7) and Ellie (4). Having children certainly changes your perspective, makes you grow, and also helps you to realize what is truly important in your life. Our daughter Ellie is on the Autism Spectrum, and her special challenges have taught us even more and have shaped our lives in a different, more fulfilling way than we expected.

I graduated from Coe College in 2013 and married my high school sweetheart, Jordan. We welcomed our first baby, Ella Marie, into the world in December 2014. Our little family lives in Cedar Rapids with our Golden Retriever, Millie. As first time parents we are far deeper in love than we could have imagined with our new sweet girl. Life is a little more exciting now and I'm learning about mommy life on the daily! Stick around to hear the ups, downs, messy moments and milestones. This really is quite the ride!

I’m an entrepreneur, a want-a-be blogger and new found lover of parenthood (not the show though I do love the show too). However my true pride and joy lies within two great guys, my husband Eric and sweet son Brody. I have no idea what I am doing as a new mother but I’m willing to give it a 110 percent 24/7- so please feel free to learn from my mistakes!

Hello!  My name is Mary and I am a stay-at-home mom to three silly and often mischievous boys, Cael (8), Graham, (6), and Adler (almost 2).   I have been married to my “guy’s guy” husband, Joel, for over ten years, and am also an in-home day care provider for two additional boys.  In short, I am outnumbered!  While life surrounded by boys can be silly, noisy, and often unexpected, I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

A pedicure and an hour alone in Target would be nice, though.  Just sayin’.

I have known my husband, Brad, since high school. We fell in love and have been happily married for three years. When we were dating we talked a lot about what our family might look like: how many children we’d have, if they’d be boys or girls, what’d we name them, etc.  One thing we were sure on though was waiting for the perfect time. I’d finish grad school, get a job and then we’d start trying. Little did we know our journey would have some bumps along the way, and maybe there is no such thing as perfect timing.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to Ames, in 2005, to study Landscape Architecture at ISU. There I met and married my husband, who is from a small NW Iowa town. We now live in Cedar Rapids, but work in North Liberty.

Hey there friends, family, and followers! As many of you know, the exciting journey of motherhood has its many ups and downs. I found out I would be expecting my first child Sawyer right out of high school and have been running around crazy ever since!  I’m a full time mommy, college student, and work at a local daycare. When I'm not juggling my busy life, I enjoy chasing around my fun loving little one who has just started walking and has the exciting yet daring personality of a little boy. I’m new to this mama thing but we have successfully made it through our first year!
