Rachel Petersen, Birth Care Center
Rachel is the Obstetrical Outreach Coordinator in the Birth Care Center.
Rachel is a passionate educator who has always loved obstetrical patients. Rachel has worked with this patient population for the past 18 years and her peers recognize her as a clinical expert and seek her knowledge when they have questions or need a second opinion. Great work Rachel!
The Vanourny Award is presented annually to a St. Luke’s nurse who contributes significantly to the care and treatment of obstetrical or gynecological patients. The recipient places an emphasis on science, demonstrates an affection for sound principles based on scientific method and medical research; demonstrates human caring and compassion; and displays good corporate citizenship.
In 1987, Dr. Stephen and Peg Vanourny established this award through St. Luke's Foundation. Dr. Vanourny was a founding physician for OB-GYN & Associates. He also served as St. Luke’s Hospital President and CEO from 1996 to 2002. Dr. Vanourny was instrumental in the creation of the Nassif Heart Center and Nassif Center for Women’s and Children’s Health.
