Celiac Disease:

A genetic autoimmune disease triggered by Gluten, a protein found in certain grains, resulting in damage to the small intestine. Symptoms present may be:

  • Fatigue
  • Migraine-like headaches
  • Constipation and/or diarrhea
  • Similar to those associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Infertility

If you have Diabetes Type 1 or another autoimmune disease, you are at a greater risk of developing Celiac Disease (CD).

Celiac Disease Facts:

  • It is genetic and not rare
  • The good news is, it's treatable
  • 1 in 130 people have or will have CD in their lifetime
  • An estimated 85% of people affected don't know they have CD
  • CD can present itself at any age
  • A blood test may help screen for the disease so talk to your doctor
